Husks

Opening: 25/10/17 - Closing: 30/10/17

Artist: Nechama golan
Curator: Noa lea Cohn

Nechama Golan’s installation Husks was inspired by the extensive use of aluminum foil in the Jewish Orthodox community, particularly in the context of its contemporary struggle with the issue of chametz. The artist recycles this material, using it to wrap her previous artworks, so that they become the inner lining of a silver garment. Golan arouses contemplation on the meaning of wrapping, covering, and enshelling objects in a uniform casing as an act of art, and on the question of the place of “chametz” in art. It is a chronicle of dealing with remnants, the leftovers of memory.
