הוצא מהקשרו
קטע מטקסט תערוכת היחיד של נרדין סרוג'י "הוצא מהקשרו" שאצרה יעל מסר בגלריה בית הגפן, חיפה (פתיחה: ספטמבר 2019)
התערוכה "הוצא מהקשרו" מורכבת משישה מיצבים פיסוליים ועבודת וידאו אחת: התערבויות סמויות וגלויות המשבשות את החלל הפיזי ומעלות שאלות על מקום, זמן ותפיסת המציאות. המקום הפיזי שבו מתקיימת התערוכה הוא גם הסטודיו של האמנית, שבו היא מפעילה טכניקות שונות המותירות חותם על גוף הבית: לעתים היא אדריכלית המזיזה עמודים ומארגנת מחדש את פנים הבית והתנועה בו. במקרה אחר היא ארכיאולוגית החופרת באדמה, מפרקת את אריחי הרצפה וחושפת בלטות מגלגולים קודמים של חלל הגלריה, כשהיה בית מגורים, מלון, מטה קצינים עות'מאניים ומתנ"ס ערבי־יהודי.
במובן זה, מבנה הגלריה עצמו הוא מושא המחקר, אך גם הזדמנות לבחון את חומרי היום־יום הטעונים בשלל משמעויות, בהקשר הפיזי, החברתי והמושגי של "מרחב". סרוג'י מותירה במרחב סביבה חדשה, ובה עקבות נוכחותה הפיזית וממצאי מחקרה הבלתי גמור: קירות שלא במקומם, מרצפות מרחפות ואלמנטים פנטסטיים שנטמעו בפנים הבניין. פעולותיה של סרוג'י הן ניסיונות שונים למתוח את גבולות המקום ולהציע דרכים חדשות להתבוננות ושהייה בחלל.

Nardeen Srouji is a multidisciplinary artist, a costume and set-designer for cinema and theatre. She is a graduate of the M.F.A. Program of Fine Arts at Bezalel Academy of Arts and Design in Jerusalem and holds a B.A. from Haifa University in English literature and Fine Arts. Her works have been shown in various exhibitions and institutions including the Qalandiya International Biennial, Ramallah; the 5th Riwaq Biennale, Qalandiya International, Haifa-Ramallah; MoBY, Bat-Yam Museums; “Manofim Festival,” Jerusalem; Haifa City Museum; Beit-Hagefen Art Gallery, Haifa; “Traces VII” The 7th Biennale for Drawing in Israel, Artists House – Jerusalem; CACR contemporary art centre, Ramllah; The museum of Islamic art, Jerusalem, and more. She currently lives and works in Haifa.
As a visual artist, Srouji’s work ranges from sculpture to installation. She Appropriates familiar objects, shapes, materials, images and sounds from her surroundings and transforms them into interventions, inviting the viewer to reconfigure their understanding and relationship to the world. These interventions seek to challenge the status quo by departing from their familiar function or use, turning the critique inwards to question their own existence.
