Einat Amir created in the workshop an archive of images based on landscape photos of Eretz Israel taken from a 1956 “Mihlal Youth Encyclopedia”. Combining a range of techniques and approaches, she conceived an imagined and mysterious Atlas, based on the two mediums that have accompanied encyclopedias and science books from their early beginnings – etching followed by photography. The “Atlas” offers new and other landscapes that lead the spectator astray, questioning both the scientific research and documentation of the universe and its human understanding.
