Artist:
Noemi Tedeschi Blankett
Curator:
Sasha Okun
In Noemi Tedeschi Blankett’s exhibition, the metaphor is ever present. The title
“Roots” and images of root vegetables are abundant in their metaphorical revelations.
Celery, bundled onion and sweet potato, the pith of etchings and preparatory drawings,
bring about terms such as Eros, Thanatos, conception, birth and waning.
It is with skill and a vast understanding of both etching and drawing that the artist
weaves the tale of a gripping journey into the Italian traditions of mural, mosaic and grotesque.
Noemi Tedeschi Blankett, untitled, 2013-14, mixed media on wood, 49×75 cm
