The exhibition “Natural Process” focuses on the current chapter (2009-2012) in Daniela Yaniv Richter’s oeuvre, a period typified by sculptures attesting to her growing concern with the process of creation itself and with persistent attempts to exploit the possibilities embedded in matter and drawing fully. The natural environment, with the stones, branches, ferns, and diverse random, amorphous, organic forms comprising it, is the major source of inspiration. By drawing on nature, Yaniv Richter can free herself from the dictates of the realistic forms prevalent in her work heretofore, and correspond with the clay and its qualities. A similar process is discernible in her drawings, which “dominate” the entire sheet, exposing their process of creation which virtually takes place before the viewer’s eyes as the artist’s hand repeats the gesture in a meditative, virtually infinite manner.
The exhibition features sculptures and drawings indicating a phase of liberation and personal expression with which Yaniv Richter has been occupied in recent years. (The exhibition is accompanied by a catalogue.)
