The New Gallery features a solo exhibition of Yoni Shuv, who graduated from the Photography Department.
I was born in Kibbutz Nachshon. This is where I still live, this is where I have been photographing in recent years. I started taking photos on excursions outside the kibbutz, in the woods and in the fields, and inside the kibbutz at night. I wanted to rediscover things I love about the world through photography, on the outskirts of the kibbutz. I photographed the kibbutz groves, the mustard hill and the carob tree while people are sleeping in their beds. I used the existing lighting. I exposed things that need to be seen. I stay with them entire nights and shoot them in long exposures to collect the dim light coming from distant streetlights or the moon.
