Muslala and the Jerusalem Urban Design Center

A Midsummer Night’s Dream: expansive fields of rooftops stretch from western to eastern Jerusalem under the gaze of the moon. Changing their appearance from day to night, summoning encounters, connections, and visits – another stream of income and use of resources.  Shamia-Opher created a folding kit for sleeping on rooftops – a platform that allows tourists to visit Jerusalem Above, which attaches to the city’s rooftop, linking together washing lines, playfulness, and mischief.

The Muslala Terrace: An Urban Oasis

Muslala is a nonprofit organization established in 2009 by artists, residents, and community activists of Musrara neighborhood in Jerusalem. Muslala Project invites visitors to explore and research mainly along the seam area of Jerusalem. We believe in exhibiting art on the streets and in public spaces, particularly in the fascinating and complex area where East meets West. The project invites the public to participate in activities that take place throughout the year, such as the "urban art tracks", the Muslala community workshop, the communal garden, and the meeting point. Guided tours by members of the group are available and adapted to groups and individuals.
