In his exhibition, Moshe Ripner presents a series of quick ink drawings that seem to have been “thrown” on the paper. Ripner takes into account the whiteness of the gleaming paper – an abstract mark that seeks meaning in a rapid process of absorption. His type of painting action – throwing the materials on the paper – summons a live channel for the emergence of images that resonate with mythological figures and impressions from his childhood literary influences: English and German legends alongside Hasidic stories, tales, and midrashim.
