Hansen House, Center for Design, Media and Technology / Mamuta Art and Media Center

Collaboration between the two Jerusalemite centers for contemporary art and media: Hansen House, the historical leper’s home that has been recently converted into a center that promotes design, media, and technology initiatives and exhibitions; Mamuta, a project by Hearat Shulayim Association led by the artists collective Sala-Manca, serving as a creative platform for artists, curators, architects, designers, and scholars who wish to create in a spirit of collaboration and knowledge, intensive dialogue, and technological development.

In 1963, the Portuguese poet João Delgado wrote in an unpublished manifesto that all museums, universities, and sports clubs should be closed for at least one year, in order to reopen a year later. After Delgado locked two municipal museums with his own locks, he was arrested.  In jail he wrote the outline for The Academy of the Contemporary.
