Over the years, the Social Gallery in Musrara has staged exhibitions that engaged in a dialogue with the Musrara collection – an online archive created by the school, centered on the neighborhood, which includes historical materials from the 1970s to the present: interviews with residents, press clippings, documents, and photographs from family albums.

In 1999, as part of the Mon Amour Festival, the book “Food in Musrara” was published at the initiative of the school in collaboration with photographer and social activist, Tal Adler. The book featured portraits of neighborhood residents alongside recipes from their private kitchens, recounting their connection to the neighborhood.

The exhibition “What’s Cooking?” sets out to renew the book’s presence in the changing demographic space of Musrara neighborhood – a social and culinary seam that has also been through times of scarcity and hunger. Alongside works by Jerusalem-based artists, linking food to memory and to life stories about nutrition, trauma, and love, it will present pages from the original book.
