Body-Prayer-Song
The audience is invited to enter a meditative space of words, intention, stones, and body atop the rooftop of the Art Cube Artists’ Studios. Li Lorian and Daniel Slabosky will host you in a durational participatory action. Li Lorian, an interdisciplinary artist exploring expressions of the act of reading and physical embodiments of text, will meet the audience. Together we will align our hearts and create a word. The word will be written on a stone, and the stone will be placed on the body; we will feel its weight and the weight of the word, allowing the stone and the word to sink into our body. Like hot stone therapy. From the word-stones, we will create a song. A little prayer.
Daniel Slabosky, a singer-songwriter, producer, and sound artist active in the indie and electronic scene as well as the experimental music and art world, will compose and play it live, making it resonate in the ears, vibrate the body, and sound throughout the roof. The prayers will accumulate and unfold as a medley of prayers throughout the performance, rising higher and higher, rising to the heavens above.
The performance was created from feeling a need for a moment of pause, for regulation and realignment of language. Between one extreme to another, an action seeking points of interface and connection, healing and repair. In this artistic collaboration, the two hope to connect body and words, earth and sky, matter and breath, sound and prayer.
