The exhibition “Auto-Biography” deals with the dismantling and reassembly of the vehicle system, revealing the hidden mechanisms that operate it. It emphasizes the transition from efficient operation to living and breathing action, crooked and continuous. Through broken objects, repetitive gestures, and performative actions, a charged system is created that oscillates between self-maintenance and disruption, between control and desire.
Yarden Colsey interferes with familiar automatic mechanisms and disrupts them, aiming to undermine the existing order and transform functionality into ritualistic cycles. In his works, he dismantles everyday machines and devices, revealing their precise mechanical infrastructure, and reorganizes it into a completely non-functional system – fragile, stubborn, and sometimes even clumsy. The machines he builds do not know when to stop; they operate without limit, weakening, wearing out, and creating a Sisyphean sense of endless effort. Through their ongoing loops, an emotional closeness is formed, a kind of request for empathy and identification.
