khavroshechka-in-jerusalem
Hansen House
Artists: Batia Kolton and Roni Fahima
In the new textile exhibition at Beit Hansen, “Chaberushka in Jerusalem,” the Russian tale about Kroshetchka-Khavroshechka and her spotted cow is transformed into a wordless giant carpet comic strip, in a unique style that mixes motifs from well-known fairy tales like Cinderella and Rumpelstilzchen with the imaginative illustration style of illustrators Batia Kolton and Roni Fahima.
Batia Kolton and Roni Fahima are among the leading illustrators in the country, both comics creators, animators, textile artists, and teachers at Shenkar. In their collaborative work, they explore the image in textiles through research on weaving traditions, technology, structure, image, and narrative. Khavroshechka and the Weavers’ Graves were previously presented in their major textile exhibition ‘The Monkey Learned to Weave,’ which was held at the Herzliya Museum in 2024-2023.
