Rafael | A musical performance
Merhav Maayan Yeshoron, Yam Maayan Yeshoron
A musical performance. A Rashomon of events from our dystopian reality, moving between past and present to diagnose the state of the heart torn between Gaza and Jerusalem.
Raphael is a peculiar angel. Originally, this is the name of the healing angel, whose name is associated with Moses’ prayer for his sister Miriam. In modern Israel, Rafael is the shortened name of the Armament Development Authority, which offers national protection through drones, the Iron Dome, and the “See-Shoot” targeting system. The performance wrestles with this strange angel in an attempt to cross the illusion of protection and wander through the labyrinths of the heart in search of the healing imagination.
