Artists: Yosef Mashiah, Ziv Barashi
Curator: Niv Gafni
In direct response to the war between Israel and Iran and the ongoing emergency situation in Israel in recent years, artist Yosef Mashiah and musician Ziv Barashi, in their first collaboration, have created a space entirely dedicated to immersion in light and sound.
In the exhibition space, four light images are displayed, emitting changing colors. Each one creates an independent show, but the light flows beyond their boundaries, spreading throughout the gallery and weaving shifting relationships between the colors in the air.
Between the particles of color, waves of sound develop in a melancholic composition, matching the encounters of light in space. Layers of light and sound pile up on top of each other into endless loops, which on one hand give reality to the passage of time and on the other hand freeze the desire to move forward with it.
Yosef Mashiah is known for his works that engage with space through lighting, screens, and digital systems that create mesmerizing and dynamic visual environments. Ziv Barashi brings her voice and her rare ability to create soundtracks that touch deep within and charge the space with emotion. The combination of the two in the gallery space creates an area to escape to, during times of war and between times of war, to momentarily forget what is happening outside and to immerse oneself in a long and pure moment of being within the world.
