Guided tour at the Graduate Exhibition at Musrara

The community administration, Canada House, Shivtei Israel 22, Musrara neighborhood, at the building’s entrance courtyard

Admission is free with prior registration here

A guided tour between multidisciplinary projects of graduates from the Musrara School from the departments of Arts, Visual Communication, and New Music. The students present bodies of work and personal projects that span a variety of media: video, sound, installation, photography, illustration, projection, electronic music, and more.

In the school departments, students focus on the connections between old and new, between familiar and long-standing traditions and contemporary technological means. The study period in Musrara is characterized by intensity, creative and personal research, big questions, and unique experiences in work processes and materials – elements that are all amplified by the political and social situation that fills the everyday life. During the work towards the final exhibition, students explore topics and phenomena close to their inner world and examine how to connect them with the hectic and turbulent outside local existence.

The tour will pass through selected works from three departments: final projects of graduates from the Arts department, portfolio displays of graduates from the Visual Communication department, as well as spatial sound works and a listening project to works in progress by graduates from the New Music department.

Jerusalem in Motion - A Running Tour Between Galleries and Outdoor Sculptures

08:00-10:30Independence Park - Dwek Gallery - David Remez Square
The "Threshold of Jerusalem" sculpture in Independence Park

Join us for a unique running tour among outdoor sculptures, unique galleries, and new perspectives on Jerusalem. We will connect body and mind, rhythm and emotion, and see Jerusalem from a different angle – through our feet, through our eyes, and through our hearts.

The tour begins with a warm-up and introduction, at the feet of the sculpture “Threshold of Jerusalem” by the Swiss artist Jean Arp in Independence Park. From there, we will run at a pace suited to the group to the Liberty Bell Park and get to know the outdoor sculptures displayed there, including sculptures by British artist Henry Moore and Israeli sculptor Israel Hadany. We will make a brief stop at Mishkenot Sha’ananim, where we will visit Dwek Gallery, which features the exhibition “Punctuation Marks” by Michal Heiman (curated by Dr. Smadar Shefi), and we will also get a glimpse of the Israeli photography collection at the guesthouse. We will conclude the run with stretches next to the sculpture “Car in the Sun” by artist Gabriel Klasmer at David Remez Square, followed by cold drinks at the First Station complex.

The tour will be guided by Dveer Shaked, a Jerusalem curator who has been exploring the city’s paths for a decade, both alone and with groups. Shaked led the first few Manofim Tours and has been the artistic director of the stage performances at the Manofim Festival for the past two years. A hobbyist runner for the past four years, this will be her first time combining her two passions – art and running – into a single tour.

Please come in running clothes and a hat. Please let us know in advance if you have any medical restrictions. Difficulty level: Medium. Route length: about 5 km (approximately an hour and a half).
